Our Story

The Trident CEO Council is a community-minded group of private sector business leaders and company heads from across the tri-county area working together to responsibly shape the path of progress toward prosperity through pragmatic ideas and informed leadership.

Founded in 2003, the Trident CEO Council was formed in the wake of the Charleston Naval Base closure amid economic uncertainty and the tri-county area’s fractured response to a moment of profound regional change. The inaugural council’s objective was straight-forward but ambitious—build inter-county collaboration and cooperation to create a dynamic, innovative region where businesses have the right tools to thrive, good jobs are plentiful, communities are healthy and strong, and nature is thoughtfully preserved for all.

As our region continues to grow at an unprecedented rate—a pace few could have predicted in the council’s early days—we are more committed than ever to meet the moment, working with renewed intention and sharpened focus to navigate the unique challenges and opportunities that come with this kind of exponential growth to build long-term, community-wide success.
